The city of Bessemer, Alabama grew quickly, stalled as a low-income suburb, and is on the rise again. After mines were depleted, steelwork ended, and railroad car manufacturing moved offshore, unemployment and crime became a huge concern. New Amazon, FedEx, and Carvana facilities will revitalize the area and create more than 5,000 new jobs.
